What is GoPaperboy?

GoPaperboy is a new student-for-hire website created specifically for the Main Line of Philadelphia. Our site provides area families with a unique network of local students who have specialized skill sets, a desire to work, and an entrepreneurial spirit. Please visit our About Us page for more.

How does is work?

Please visit our How It Works page.

Why should I use this site?

GoPaperboy solves the problem for families of finding a convenient, affordable, and local resource to help their children explore their budding interests, whether it’s ballet, lacrosse, or computer science. GoPaperboy also connects you with local students to help with your household’s odd jobs.

With GoPaperboy, families can post for any need they might have – from babysitting to tennis lessons to snow shoveling – and search student profiles for qualified applicants. No more racing to pricey personalized tennis instruction five times a week, when a GoPaperboy varsity tennis player could take your child to the courts for a fraction of the cost.

Why is this site more than a job site?

GoPaperboy is much more than a job site. We provide solutions for families, a taste of entrepreneurship for students, and help to foster a stronger sense of community by bringing area families and students together.

What do you mean by local student providers?

GoPaperboy’s high school student providers typically attend public and private high schools within the school districts of Haverford, Lower Merion, Radnor and Treddyffrin and EastTown (T/E). GoPaperboy’s college student providers are full-time and part-time students typically attending local colleges and universities, such as St. Joes, Villanova, Harcum, Rosemont, Bryn Mawr. In the summer or during vacations times, the college student providers may live on the Main Line, but attend institutions that are not local.

Do you verify the information provided in the students’ profiles?

Generally, we do not review or verify the accuracy of the information students post in their profiles. We encourage students to accurately and comprehensively complete their profiles. We reserve the right to close accounts if student profiles are incomplete or invalid. Please be sure to verify the information that is important to you before hiring a student.

If you suspect a student profile is invalid, contact us at safety@gopaperboy.com.

How do I cancel my account?

We’d be sorry to see you go, but won’t give you any trouble. You can cancel your account by going to your Main Menu, select SETTINGS, and DELETE ACCOUNT.

Families

What are my responsibilities in making safe decisions for my family and me?

GoPaperboy cares about the safety of our community. Ultimately, all hiring decisions are up to you. Please make sure you have done your research and feel comfortable with the student provider before hiring.

Do you perform background checks on students?

No. The website is simply a way for families to more easily identify and locate local students-for-hire. We feel families should vet potential students in the same way you would referrals from friends or from postings on a job board.

Students

How old do I need to be to register?

What are Teen Providers?

Teen Providers are student providers on GoPaperboy.com that are 14 – 17 years of age. Teen providers can create profiles just like every other student provider on the site, however their accounts are parent-monitored accounts in which a parent or guardian has the ability to monitor the Teen Provider’s account and gets email notification of all activity and messaging through the account. Please see FAQ’s – What is a Parent/Guardian Monitored Account to learn more.

Please read our Terms of Use for more information.

What is a Parent/Guardian Monitored Account?

For the safety of both students and families, any student under the age of 18 is required to have a parent or guardian oversee their account. A Teen Provider’s parent or legal guardian must consent to the Teen Provider’s registration through our Services and also become a User (a “Parent User”). The Parent User has their own login information, full access to the account and profile information, and is copied on all incoming and outgoing messages. Please read our Terms of Use for more information.

With respect to Teen Providers, Teen Provider’s Monitored Account and Parent User, What is stated in GoPaperboy’s Terms of Use?

“If a User is fourteen (14) to seventeen (17) years of age and would like to be a User who offers services to others (a “Teen Provider”), that Teen Provider may register a Profile to use our Services (“Monitored Profile”), but only if that Teen Provider’s parent or legal guardian consents to the Teen Provider’s registration through our Services and also becomes a User (a “Parent User”). Parent Users represent and warrant that they are in fact the parent or legal guardian of the Teen Provider, and acknowledge that we are in no way responsible for verifying the factual or legal status of the relationship between any Parent User and Teen Provider. Parent Users will receive a copy of all communications between the Teen Provider and other Users as well as a copy of all emails we send to the Teen Provider’s Monitored Profile. Parent Users may respond to communications sent by other Users to the Teen Provider and may report inappropriate message Content to us. Parent Users may also log in to, update the settings of and terminate the Teen Provider’s Monitored Profile. (c) For purposes of these Terms, Parent Users and their Teen Provider are deemed to be Users. By registering as a Parent User, the Parent User hereby represents, warrants, understands, agrees to and accepts these Terms in their entirety on behalf of the Parent User and the Teen Provider whether or not the Parent User uses our Services. The Parent User further understands and agrees that the Parent User will ensure the Teen Provider’s compliance with these Terms and that the Parent User is responsible for any noncompliance by the Teen Provider.
(d) The Parent User also agrees that the Parent User is responsible for overseeing the Teen Provider’s Monitored Profile as well as the Teen Provider’s activities both on and off of our Services, including overseeing who the Teen Provider communicates with and meets both on and off the Services, and with whom the Teen Provider agrees to provide services.”

How much do I charge for my skill?

It is up to you! This is one of the first of many business decisions you must make.

How many hours do I need to work?

It is up to you! Create the schedule that works for you.

Why do I need to pay $1.00 to verify/approve my Teen Provider’s account?

We wanted to provide another step to help assure that the person registering as the parent/guardian is in fact the parent/guardian. At this point, we do not check against a public database, but we hope to move in that direction as we grow.

If I am a parent/guardian of a Teen Provider, but also want to subscribe as a family member, post jobs and browse student profiles, do I need to have a separate account?

Yes. You will need to register as a family subscriber using a different email address than the one used for the parent/guardian account. So you will have two separate accounts – one to monitor your Teen Provider and the other to post jobs and browse full student profiles.
